Má velmi dobrou stabilitu oblouku, což vede k vysoce kvalitním svarům s hladkým povrchem. Kromě toho tato elektroda vnáší do svarové lázně méně wolframu, což způsobuje mnohem menší znečištění svaru. Je určena pro svařování stejnosměrným proudem. Skládá se z minimálně 97,30 % čistého wolframu a 1,70 až 2,20 % thoria. Dobře se hodí i pro svařování střídavým proudem u materiálů, jako je tenký hliník o tloušťce menší než 1,5 mm.
