Gary Numan, jeden z pionýrů elektronické hudby, vlastním jménem Gary Anthony James Webb, začínal v roce 1977 v punkové skupině Mean Street, kterou záhy opustil, aby založil Tubeway Army, s nimž vydal dvě alba. Posléze se vydal na sólovou dráhu a během let se stal jedním z průkopníků a pilířů elektronické taneční hudby.
